I support America's tribes and I would ask Mary Peltola to be Secretary of Interior, and maybe to have a role in international fishing negotiations.
Villages in Alaska are also threatened by climate change, and they need more federal help with relocating or recovering from disasters.
I would fund FEMA more than we do right now, and make sure nobody in the country would get their aid held up, but tribes get neglected more than other groups sometimes and they're extremely remote. Their needs are often on a much smaller scale than those of other communities, sometimes these villages have 100 or 400 people. So I'd keep a line open mostly for Alaskan villages and reservations in case they need things like emergency insulation or their only water facility burns down.
It wouldn't be on a racial basis. It would extend to all small isolated communities under like 7000 people that are in a similar position, but also to reservations as an inter-governmental type gesture. I would define the criteria to include most Alaskan villages but not exclude similarly remote majority white communities in other parts of the country.
