I want Israel to obey the law. I understand reacting how they did. But there's a lot going on and a lot of disinformation on both sides, so here are some things I would do differently that they and our leaders haven't been doing.
First off is I would crack down on the gangs on the Palestinian side. I've heard reports lately that the IDF has enabled those gangs, which I'm not inclined to believe because those gang activities are such a disadvantage for their war goals. By extorting the refugees, the gangs are creating this line of funding to themselves and to some degree Hamas from Americans donating to Gofundmes to pay for $100 bread or whatever. People are raising funds for "evacuation fees" because people are telling them they can get out for $5000 whether or not it's true. That's an unnecessary disadvantage.
Second, I'd send resources to Shin Bet to help them enforce the law in Israel domestically. That includes reigning in settler terrorism as defined by that organization themselves. A lot of the things people in the US want to burn everything down for are already illegal there. They need a little help sometimes.
And that includes following up on all of the Tik Tok videos being attributed to IDF soldiers. Videos have circulated like, one or two soldiers will be on camera in an empty area and cause some vandalism while somebody films it. I believe that if each individual in a video like this was identified, most wouldn't be IDF. But if you check, you either catch some criminal who embarrassed the uniform or you find somebody who dressed up to slander you.
Sometimes being strict about things like that is a form of self defense. That's what I would encourage.
